Ukraine may consider withdrawing membership from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), an organization of former Soviet republics.
Konstantin Tymoshenko, presidential advisor on foreign policy issues, said Kiev wanted full compliance with all CIS agreements, or otherwise "the issue of leaving the CIS can be deliberated at a practical level".
Tymoshenko's words came following an international conference Thursday in Vilnius, Lithuania, called "Common Visions for the Common Neighbourhood". It was attended by heads of states from the Baltic and Black Sea regions and NATO and EU representatives who slammed Moscow for allegedly retarding the development of democratic values and deteriorating relations within the CIS.
