Parties like nationalistic fraction Ataka (Attack) could spark a civil war, the head of the Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) for Sofia Borislav Borislavov has said.

Such parties have definitely appeared because of the divided right wing, Borislavov said Sunday when democrats gathered to plant several pine trees at the communism victims' memorial in Sofia. Although the idea was to gather the scattered parties and fractions and give birth to the forest of the united right wing, diehards Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) were not represented.

Tension is building around the nationalists in Bulgaria, after Ataka gathered thousands at a rally on Bulgaria's national holiday March 3 to yell for resignations and boo the government.
