Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov leaves on a visit to Italy where he and President Carlo Ciampi will open Tuesday the exhibition "Bulgarian Treasures of the Neolithic Age and the Middle Ages".

The selection of Bulgaria's most precious artifacts from the Neolithic age to the Middle Ages will be placed in the heart of the Italian capital, in the Quirinale Palace. Visitors will be able to see the exhibition from February 14 to March 15.

The travel of Bulgaria's material historic memory runs within the initiative to introduce the Bulgarian culture to Europe, on the eve of the country's accession to the EU.

The precious collection includes a golden wreath, a ring, golden rhytons with the shape of a dear's head and a knee-piece lavishly decorated. These artifacts were found in July last year in Bulgaria. They were found in the grave of an ancient ruler, believed to be a Thracian king, near the village of Zlatinitsa.

The archaeologists discovered also 50 gold, silver and bronze funeral gifts. The astounding find dates back to 4th century BC and is believed to be the richest of its kind discovered so far in Bulgaria.

Italy will also see the amazing gold mask believed to portray King Sevt III, whose vault was found by Bulgarian archaeologists in 2004. The unique ring that belonged to Bulgaria's ruler Kaloyan and other precious findings, which have not been shown abroad, are also among the exhibits.

The official delegation travelling to Rome includes also Culture Minister Stefan Danailov, the National History Museum Director Prof Bozhidar Dimitrov, Archeology Museum Director Prof Vassil Nikolov, deputy culture ministers and officials. Italians will be also able to meet the archeologists who unearthed some of the most sensational Thracian findings over the last few years.
