Temperatures Drop to New Low in Bulgaria

A wave of Arctic cold spread across the whole Bulgaria on Tuesday when temperatures hit a new low - minus 20 Celsius degrees in the northeastern part of the country.

Harsh weather closed the schools in eighteen Bulgarian districts.

The residents in the Danube town of Russe woke up to minus 19 Celsius degrees in the morning, after a night of acute cold and sharp winds.

The town of Shumen, northeast Bulgaria, is expected to see Tuesday record-low temperatures of minus 22 Celsius degrees.

In neighboring Razgrad the mercury dropped to minus 21 Celsius degrees.
