American Suicides on Bulgarian Web Site's Forum

An American youngster has committed public suicide, describing his death-agonies on the forum of a Bulgarian web site, it emerged Tuesday.

The young boy often visited the forum of computer game Metal Gear Solid's biggest fansite, that has been developed and purchased by Bulgarians.

Mitchell S. was a regular visitor to the forum under the nickname Kuja and often talked about his problems and threatened to commit suicide. On January 6 he wrote that he had taken pills and antifreeze and would die in a few hours, Boyan Georgiev, Manager of Max Effect - the company that designed the web site said for SNA. The other forum members did not believe him and even made fun of him while he shared with them every gruesome detail of his dying agonies. He graphically described how he was vomiting, fainting over the keyboard, and the pains he was feeling.

None of the users online believed him, but when Kuja did not appear in the forum for a couple of days, some of his friends attempted to look for him. They had never before seen him, so they traced his IP address and managed to get his home address, Georgiev explained. When they appeared at his doorstep his parents confirmed that the youngster had indeed committed suicide and died the way he had described it.

As the news broke out the American hosting company Bluehost immediately suspended the web-site from the server and has not allowed access to it since.

"Normally this website is visited about 5,000 people a day, and this news would have upped the visits bringing us more profit," Georgiev said. "But we would have been happy to lose the profit if we could turn back time." As it stands now, the US host would most likely not reimburse Max Effect, Georgiev added.

Max Effect is a company that deals with web design and usually services corporate clients, its manager explained. In this case the game's fan site was ordered by an individual named Pavel Simeonov.
