Customs inspectors from Bulgaria's Kalotina border checkpoint with Serbia have prevented an illegal import of 76,000 cigarettes of the Karelia and Muratti brands.

The illegal goods were found in a Volvo truck entering the country. They were wrapped in five plastic bags and hidden in the driver's cabin.

The cigarettes were confiscated and the driver apprehended.

Cigarette prices in Bulgaria for both local and imported brands were upped by EUR 0.5 in the beginning of the year.
