The Thracian town of Sevtopolis, whose ruins lie on the bottom of a dam in Central Bulgaria, will be restored in its real size.

The new town will sprawl over 60 decars near the village of Krun in the municipality of Kazanluk. An underwater elevator made of glass will provide access to the ruins of the town, envisages a project, named "In the Valley of Thracian Kings."

The project is scheduled to be complete within nine years.

It was during the 5th-4th centuries BC that the Thracian town Sevtopolis, bearing the name of the Thracian King Sevt III was declared capital of the Thracian state of the Odrissi.

Bulgarian archeologists unearthed ruins of Sevtopolis fifty-two years ago.

The Valley of Thracian Kings is the site of hoards of ancient treasures, located some two hundred miles east of the capital Sofia. Among the most significant archeological finds was the discovery of the 2,400-year-old Thracian shrine. One of its chambers contained the bronze helmet, a delicate two-handled gold drinking cup and three amphoras as well as 10 spears, a sword, a round shield and leg armour.

The Valley of Thracian Kings saw the start of its celebrations Friday morning with the opening of a separate hall, dedicated to the mighty Thracian ruler Sevt III in the regional Historical Museum.
