Auditors Check Ten Indebted Bulgarian Hospitals

Bulgaria's health ministers ordered a check into the financial status of ten Bulgarian hospitals with big liabilities.

The checks will be completed by the end of the next week and will seek to reveal the cause of the major debts of the ten health institutions.

Data of the Health Ministry shows that the amount of the overdue liabilities of the country's hospitals exceed BGN 100 M.

The ten hospitals, which financial status will be probed, include Sofia's Saint Ekaterina, the Pirogov Emergency institute, the National Cardiology hospital, the Alexandrovska hospital and several pother health institutions in other Bulgarian cities.

Health Minister Radoslva Gaydarski held a meeting with representatives of some of the biggest hospitals in Bulgaria over the problems with the financing of the institutions and the accumulated debts.


The heads of the hospitals pledged to cut the expenses, but urged for additional financing for paying up the debts to the medicine suppliers.
