Bulgaria's Euro-Affairs Minister, the sole minister in the former government to retain her post in the new trilateral cabinet, expressed firm optimism over Bulgaria's progress to EU accession and the assessment of the European Commission later this year.

Minister Meglena Kuneva reiterated she will do her best for Bulgaria's timely entry into the European Union, pinned for 2007.

Talking to the Bulgarian National Radio she voiced confidence that the EC comprehensive monitoring report on the progress made will be positive.

At the beginning of June the European Commission sent formal letters to the acceding countries Bulgaria and Romania warning them that the pace of their pre-accession reforms is insufficient.

For Bulgaria those are services, corporate law, agriculture, environment, justice and home affairs, the spokesperson was quoted as saying by Bulgarian National Radio (BNR).
