Bulgaria's Euro-Affairs Minister, the sole minister in the former government to retain her post in the new trilateral cabinet, expressed confidence that the name of former king Simeon Saxe-Coburg will facilitate Bulgaria's accession to the EU in 2007.

"It would be nothing but short-sighted if the tremendous reputation of Simeon Saxe-Coburg abroad," Meglena Kuneva told the Bulgarian national TV channel a day after swearing in the new cabinet, headed by Socialist Stanishev.

"Saxe-Coburg is a national asset, who made possible for Bulgaria to sign the EU accession contract in April and will be of great help for successfully completing the process."

Minister Kuneva confirmed that Bulgaria's accession process is on track and will not be delayed.
