Born on March 29, 1954 in the village of Drandar, Suvorovo municipality, Varna district.

Graduated in Philosophy from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", 1981. Candidate of philosophical sciences and research associate in the Institute for Philosophy of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Ph.D. in Philosophy, 1985.

Wrote a dissertation on "Philosophical Analysis of the Symmetry Principle". Fellow to the Dialectical Materialism Section of the Institute for Philosophy of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

Co-founder and leader of the underground organization seeking restoration of the rights of Bulgarian Turks, 1985-86.

Author of the Program Document of the organization.

He was arrested on June 12, 1986 and then sentenced to 10 years in prison during a closed-door session of the Varna District Court on charges of founding an anti-state organization, 1987. He was given amnesty on December 22, 1989.

Founding-member and chairman of MRF since its establishment on January 4, 1990 (re-elected Dec. 1996). Director of "Prava i svobodi" newspaper, 1991-96.

MP (elected in Krumovgrad single-member electoral district) in the 7th Grand National Assembly (Parliamentary Group of MRF). MP (elected in Kardjali) in the 36th National Assembly (Parliamentary Group of MRF).

MP (elected in Burgas) (Parliamentary Group of MRF). Chair of the Parliamentary Group of MRF in the 7th Grand National Assembly, and in the 36th and 37th National Assemblies.

MP in the 38th National Assembly. Chair of the coalition Alliance for National Salvation (ANS) since March 1997. Chair of the ANS parliamentary group in the 38th National Assembly.

MP from Dobrich in the 39th NA (PG of MRF). Chairman of the PG of MRF. Ahmed Dogan speaks Russian and English. Married twice, with two children.
