Atletico Madrid director of sport Toni Munoz has confirmed the club's interest in signing Bulgarian pair Martin Petrov and Dimitar Berbatov.
The pair play in Germany and for the moment, Petrov seems to be the more likely of the pair to move to Spain. "At the moment Petrov is a more likely arrival and when we close one deal we will then go for the other", Munoz said.
"We are negotiating with his club, Wolfsburg and at the moment things are well advanced. I think we will be able to close the deal next week," said Atletico's mentor as quoted by PA Sport.
"He has been offered to us and we are looking at the possibilities. His club Bayer Leverkusen have said nothing to us about him."
Should the two arrive, it will mean Atletico will have to offload two of their non-EU players with Uruguayan pair Ricardo Nunez and Marcelo Sosa the favourites to make way.
