Russian media have been circulating information about a mysterious virus that is reportedly infecting some 6,000 Bulgarians daily.

According to the news initially released by the RIA Novosti news agency as quoting Belgrade sources, the unknown virus caused high temperature, general dizziness, strong cough and stomachache. It also says that the virus identification would take at least three weeks.

It is in three weeks time exactly that the active summer season in Bulgaria kicks off.

None of these statements are true, Bulgarian Health Ministry reacted immediately confirming that the epidemiological picture in the country is normal.

Tour operators said they have been flooded with requests for more information about the mysterious disease and suspected disloyal competition ahead of the summer season.

Russian tourists have been rediscovering Bulgarian Black Sea coast as a favorite tourist destination in summertime.

Bulgarian Embassy in Moscow has sent a letter to state-owned RIA Novosti asking for more professionalism in their journalistic work, especially when individual health and security of people are concerned.
