There are still no suspects for the death of Bulgarian Jr. Sgt. Gurdi Gurdev, who was killed in a friendly fire accident between Bulgarian and American troops in Iraq, General Fountain from the US commandment in Iraq said.

In a special videoconference line Bulgaria's Defence Minister Nikolay Svinarov and General Nikola Kolev, Chief of Bulgarian Army Staff, greeted the Bulgarian troops in Iraq with the upcoming May 6- the Day of the Bulgarian army, known as Gergyovden.

General Fountain, who joined the videoconference talk, highly assessed the work of the Bulgarian unit in Iraq, pointing out that the US commandment is hoping for a future cooperation as well.

The Bulgarian soldier Gurdi Gurdev was killed accidentally by American forces in March when combat patrols from each country shot at each other in the dark in response to what each side thought was a hostile attack, the American military investigation has concluded.

No Americans were held responsible for the shooting death, which a statement issued by the military headquarters in Baghdad called "a tragic accident." The statement said "no further investigation or administrative action is required."
