An ostrich has escaped a farm near Bulgaria's Smolyan, and is probably roaming a nearby forest, media said Friday.
The giant bird used to live in an ostrich farm in Chokmanovo, a village situated in Bulgaria's far south, but ran away after a battle with another male.
Despite extremely low temperatures across Bulgaria, the farm's owner Dimitar Chatalbashev believes that the escapee has every chance to survive. Media cited Chatalbashev as saying that the ostriches were enduring the cold, and that one had even laid an egg a few days ago.
There are about 30 specimens in the Chokmanovo farm, media explained.
