Bulgaria marks Tuesday the international Safer Internet Day, celebrated by a total of 30 countries in Europe and the rest of the world.
This is the first time for Bulgaria to participate the campaign, which is part of a coherent approach of the European Union (EU).
In Europe, February 8 events are being held under the patronage of Viviane Reding, Member of the European Commission responsible for the Information Society.
Safer Internet Day represents an effort to promote a safer Internet for all of its users, especially young people. It is organized by Insafe, the European network of national Internet safety awareness nodes. The Insafe network is coordinated by European Schoolnet and co-funded by the European Commission's Safer Internet Programme.
The special activities include conferences, the launch of Internet literacy programs in schools, media releases on radio and television and the launch of several new Safer Internet websites.
