Diwaniya's Eko base is a much safer place for the Bulgarian contingent, according to Iraq's Ambassador to Sofia.

Ambassador Hayder Al-Barrak attended an international conference in Sofia on Trans-Atlantic security from the point of view of Central and Eastern Europe. The panel discussions were also joined by Dr Janosz Bugajski of the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, US, Bulgarian ex-president peter Stoyanov, ex-prime minister Filip Dimitrov, MPs and experts.

The last phase in the preparation of Bulgaria's fourth infantry in Iraq was completed at the end of the week. The 480-strong unit will set off for Diwaniya in about a month. Bulgarian base in Iraq was moved from Karbala's Kilo to Diwaniya's Eko base, within the headquarters of Polish multinational commandment.
