Bulgaria's Commission for the Protection of Competition (CPC) imposed yet another fine on Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company Bulgaria AD of Kostinbrod in connection with a collect-the-caps promotional competition.
The company was fined BGN 150,000, the fourth penalty that Bulgaria's anti-trust body inflicts on the company for the last nine months.
According to the commission the game breaches the law on the protection of competition under which prizes cannot exceed considerably the cost of the traded product.
The top prizes of Coca-Cola competition, which took place from May 18- July 9 under the name "Euro 2004", included a 2.6-kilogram, 14-carat gold football ball.
The Commission for the Protection of Competition justified the penalty with the economic and financial prowess of the company and its disloyal competition policy.
Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company Bulgaria has been repeatedly scolded over its promotional games, with the anti-trust body imposing fines of BGN 20,000, BGN 100,000 and 80,000.
