The entrance of an ancient sanctuary was revealed by the archeological expedition of Georgi Kitov, the discoverer compared to movie-hero Indiana Jones for his historic findings over the last couple of months.

The Thracian sanctuary was found Friday in the same mound where the bronze head depicting a Thracian king, near the Shipka Peak, was revealed and where the excavations of the TEMP 2004 expedition had earlier unearthed the sensational gold mask.

Several meters away from the place where the bronze head was found archeolosgists revealed partially a 7-meter facade wall and a stone-built facility. Excavations on the site will go on at full speed over next days.

The mound of Goljamata Kosmatka is likely to hide one of oldest and biggest sanctuaries on the territory of Bulgaria, Kitov said. There are about 60 ancient sanctuaries unearthed on the territory of the country so far.
