A headless body has been found in the town of Al-Zuwiya, north of Saddam Hussein's hometown of Tikrit, leading to fears that a second Bulgarian hostage had been killed.

World media reported it belonged to a Westerner. The victim has been taken to the Tikrit morgue for autopsy and identification.

The body, wearing a reddish tunic, was recovered from the Tigris river along with its head in a plastic bag near the town of Al-Zuwiya, north of Saddam Hussein's hometown of Tikrit.

According to DPA, the head and body were found near the Iraqi town of Beiji, about 140 km south of the northern city of Mosul.

Citing Iraqi police, CNN reported that the decapitated body was initially identified as of the missing Bulgarian truck driver Ivaylo Kepov.

The Bulgarian authorities announced that they have been informed for the corpse found but denied to comment on the possible identity of the person killed and the option of identifying it as Ivaylo Kepov.
