US Denies Copter Shot Down in Iraq

The US military denied Iraqi police reports that an American helicopter was shot down in a western area of the country. Earlier on Wednesday local police said that a military aircraft was hit during fierce clashes in the western Iraqi city of Ramadi. A police officer said the aircraft came down near the eastern entrance of the city and burst into flames. At least five Iraqis were killed in the fighting, a doctor at a local hospital said. Reportedly the area had been sealed off by US troops.
