Iraqi insurgents killed the governor of Mosul, world media reported.
Attackers killed Oussama Kachmoula and two of his bodyguards as they was driving towards Baghdad.
The assailants threw a grenade at the governor's vehicle on and fired automatic weapons.
The town of Mosul is linked with the Bulgarian hostages crisis. Qatar-based al-Jazeera TV reported Tuesday night about the killing of one of the two Bulgarian hostages by Iraqi militant group calling itself the Jihad and Unification group, five days after they claimed release of all Iraqi prisoners held by US military in return of the two Bulgarian lives.
Last night Kashmula told the Bulgarian National Television that the two Bulgarian hostages might still be alive.
