Bulgarian Diplomats in Baghdad

Politics | July 11, 2004, Sunday // 00:00

The group of Bulgarian envoys have arrived in Baghdad, over forty hours after the deadline of the al-Qaida terrorist network, which holds two Bulgarians hostage, expired.

The diplomats will seek to facilitate the coordination between the partner organizations.

Bulgaria does not have a diplomatic mission in Baghdad.

Two Bulgarian truck drivers, held hostage by an Al-Qaeda-linked group, face a threat of execution unless US troops free Iraqi prisoners.

Unconfirmed reports say the Bulgarians are alive.
