Casualties in Iran Mighty Quake

A strong earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale shook northern Iran this afternoon. According to local state TV, at least 50 people were killed and 150 injured in the mighty shake, which was strongly felt in capital Tehran, with people scurrying into the streets. State news agency IRNA informed several houses were destroyed in the Mazandaran province, quoting local emergency officials. Officials at Tehran University seismological center said the quake's epicenter was in the village of Baladeh, 69 kilometers northeast of Tehran, in Mazandaran province close to the Caspian Sea.
