At least 16 people, including rescue workers and journalists, were killed at the scene of a vehicle accident in southeast Romania on Monday.

The accident occurred when an overturned truck carrying ammonia exploded.

Two journalists from private television station, Antena 1, filming policemen as well as firefighters trying to put out the flames and rescue workers were killed when the vehicle exploded.

A dozen more people on the scene have been rushed to the nearby hospital with serious injuries.

The tragedy took place in the town of Mihailesti, about 70 km (43 miles) from capital Bucharest.
