Two people were killed and at least 22 were injured in the Khan Younis refugee camp when an Israeli attack helicopter fired a missile at a group of armed Palestinians. The violence came after Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon vowed to come up with a new plan to replace "unilateral disengagement" from Gaza, voted down by his own party. Meanwhile Israeli troops surrounded the headquarters of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. Dozens of Israeli jeeps were reported to have sealed off Arafat's complex in the West Bank city of Ramallah, and soldiers occupied buildings nearby. The Israeli army said soldiers were simply arresting suspects, and the operation was not linked to Mr Arafat's office.
