Up to 50 Iranians are among the Ashoura worshipers that died in explosions in Baghdad and Karbala early on Tuesday, official report from Tehran says.
On Tuesday morning, series of explosions simultaneously rocked Baghdad and Karbala, killing and injuring tens of pilgrims who were celebrating the culmination of Ashoura, one of the biggest religious events for the Shiite Muslims.
According to the CNN, there were nine explosions in Karbala alone.
A Bulgarian unit is part of the multinational peacekeeping contingent in the holy Shiite city, but according to Bulgaria's Defense Ministry none of the Bulgarians got hurt.
