The Russian oil giant LUKoil considers to include its Bulgarian refinery in Burgas in the planned supply network for US gas stations, LUKoil vice president Leonid Fedun said, cited by Russian media.
The US gasoline network owned by LUKoil has continuously expanded, reaching about 2,000 US-based service stations out of more than 4,700 spread around the world. LUKoil's vice president stated that the latest purchase of Conoco would allow it to double its market share in the US Northeast.
"Our U.S. network will require up to 6 million tons of gasoline a year. These are big volumes and therefore we are likely to need additional refining capacity," Leonid Fedun said.
Besides the Bulgarian refinery in Burgas, LUKoil plans to switch into its supply network the oil-product terminal in Vysotsk on the Gulf of Finland, due to be operational within the next few months.
