Bulgarian Gun-Owners Mount After Procedure Ease
Politics | January 23, 2004, FridayAlmost 250,000 people in the country have guns in their possessions at the moment, some of those Bulgarians own more than one piece, according to statistics of the Interior Ministry. By the time those law amendments were made, the number of guns held by Bulgarian citizens totalled 313 224, and in the next few months jumped by 3,615.
Over the last months, however, 800 licenses have been recalled in police operations that came after a rough and tumble followed by shooting at the Escape nightclub in Sofia. The incident left nobody with serious injuries, but triggered caustic criticism for authorities letting too many people walk around armed.
