Politics | December 21, 2003, Sunday // 00:00

Before being seized by US soldiers, former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein was actually captured by forces of the Kurdish Patriotic Front, British tabloid Sunday express wrote.

According to the article, the Kurds had taken Saddam prisoner and drugged him, and after that it was easy for the US troops to discover him.

The Frond reportedly made a deal with the US forces, to gain political advantage in the region in return, the paper said, citing a former Iraqi intelligence officer.

The ousted Iraqi president was captured while hiding in a mud hut basement near his hometown of Tikrit. According to the words of US President George Bush, Saddam will be tried by an Iraqi court, while there were calls for the former dictator to face an international tribunal.
