France supports Bulgaria in closing the negotiations with the European Union (EU) at most favorable conditions, said the French European Affairs Minister Noelle Lenoir, who arrived in Sofia Thursday on a one-day working visit.

Talking after her meeting with Bulgarian counterpart Meglena Kuneva she underlined that Europe should encourage Bulgaria and Romania for their accession in 2007.

Lenoir does not see a reason for a delay in Bulgaria's negotiations and expressed the opinion that emphasis must be put on the progress the country has reached.

However she did not exclude the possibility for the Energy Chapter of Bulgaria's European Union (EU) pre-accession negotiations to be reopened because of the units 3,4 of the country only nuclear plant in the town of Kozloduy.

Meetings with Bulgaria's President Georgi Parvanov and Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg were included in the agenda of Lenoir' visit.
