Bulgarian Armory-Chiefs Accused of Contraband Dismissed
Politics | October 31, 2003, FridayThe current director of the Beta arms factory Ruslan Ivanov and his predecessor Lyudmil Georgiev as well as Nikolay Kratunov, chairman of the RIK cooperation, which has reportedly served as an intermediary in the illegal operation were detained October 15 on suspicions of arranging exports of parts for self-propelled howitzers to Africa's largest country.
Later in October they were released on bail as Sofia City Court dismissed the three men's detainment as illegal.
Kratunov and Georgiev were dismissed from posts with a court order, while Ivanov was already discharged.
