Bulgarian sprinter Ivet Lalova received August 14 an honorary gold badge for being named Athlete of the Month for July by Bulgarian journalists.
Even before the start of the 17th European Junior Championships in athletics that was held in Tampere in Finland (July 24th - 27th 2003), Lalova has secured a place among the athletes tipped as winners. Her victory in 100 meters (11.43) and 200 meters (22.88) showed the hopes pinned on her were not wasted.
Lalova demonstrated she is good shape as early as in the winter, but her real achievements came in the summer during competitions in Bulgaria.
