The omission of Bulgaria and Romania in the declaration for the draft Constitution of the European Union was nothing more than a technical mistake. This is what Bulgaria's Euro-integration Minister Meglena Kuneva said commenting on the latest controversy triggered when the European Convention did not include the two countried set for 2007 entry in the governing structures of the union.
According to the minister, the posts within the higher EU structures were distributed among the EU members on the basis of the accession treaties. However, Bulgaria and Romania have not yet signed such documents.
The two countries have already been added in the annex to the European Constitution, Kuneva pointed out.
The head of the Convention, former French President Valery Giscard d'Estaing has already apologized for the omission.
Bulgaria was one of the first countries to voice its vision about the future Constitution of the union. Sofia favors rotating presidency every six months.
