Foreigners Urged to Leave Iraq
Politics | March 16, 2003, SundayThe Iraqi authorities have officially asked all journalists and foreign nationals to leave the country in anticipation of war, Gasan Nasur, correspondent of the Trud daily told Bulgarian National Radio.
He said that extraordinary security measures have been introduced in Iraqi capital Baghdad. Telephone lines were cut and there is no connection with other countries except by several satellite phones.
All flights were stopped and transport to Syria is possible only by car. Most of the shops are closed. Prices go up almost every hour.
Police have beefed up security measures in the capital.
