Bulgarian Song Flew Aboard Columbia Space Shuttle

I was shocked to hear the tragic news, Dyana Dafova, the Bulgarian singer, whose music was played to astronauts aboard the space shuttle Columbia, told novinite.com. All seven astronauts aboard Columbia died when the craft broke up after re-entering the Earth's atmosphere on Saturday.

NASA invited Dafova to watch Columbia launch from John F. Kennedy Space Center in 1998. She has been one of the few allowed to watch the launch no more than three miles off the space shuttle and the only European musician, invited by NASA.

Dafova admitted that the shock was all the more harsher because she had seen for herself the impeccable organization, incredible security measures and precision there.

Dyana's song "Ahadyak" (which translates as "cosmos" from Sanskrit) from the compact disc "Sounds of the Earth" was selected among the pieces to be played aboard Columbia space shuttle. In the words of Dafova the song spreads over space that is beyond human comprehension.

Any word would be too weak to describe man's feelings during the launch of the shuttle. Your whole body vibrates as the ground shakes and for less than a second you feel part of the universe, Dafova said.
