Bulgaria's President Named Politician of 2002 at Novinite.com

President Parvanov was named "Personality of 2002" in Politics in the poll of novinite.com. 35 percent voted in favor of the nomination of the Bulgarian president. Prime Minister Saxe-Coburg comes second with 29 percent of the votes. The other nominees in the Politics section Foreign Minister Passy, rightist UDF leader Nadezhda Mihaylova and the leader of the Turkish minority Movement for Rights and Freedoms Ahmed Dogan got respectively 17 percent, 12 percent and 7 percent of the votes.

Showmen Slavi Trifonov is named "Personality of 2002" in Show & Arts. The other nominees in that section were actors Chocho Popyordanov and Georgi Mamalev, director Tedy Moscov and sculptor Vezhdi Rashidov. 47 percent voted for Slavi Trifonov, anchor of the most popular in Bulgaria TV talk show, 22 percent for Tedy Moskov, 14 percent for Chocho Popyordanov and 6 percent for Vezhdi Rashidov.

Tennis Player Magdalena Maleeva was named "Personality of 2002" in Sports. World Rowing Champion Rumyana Neykova is ranked second in the Sports section with 19 percent of the votes. National soccer team goal scorer Dimitur Berbatov, World and European Wrestling Champion Armen Nazaryan and Evgenia Radanova who took the silver medal at the Short Track World Cup got respectively 16 percent, 13 percent and 13 percent.

Readers of novinite.com from Bulgaria, the United States, Turkey, France, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates, Great Britain, Israel, Poland, Hungary, Albania, Italy, Greece, Luxembourg, Estonia, Switzerland and Denmark participated in the "Personality of 2002" poll of novinite.com. The winner in last year's poll of novinite.com was Prime Minister Saxe-Coburg. Ralitsa Vassileva, anchor of "World News" for CNN International (CNNI) came second. Then President-elect Parvanov was ranked fourth.
