Bulgaria: Buildings in Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna to Light up in EU Flag Colours on Europe Day

Three Bulgarian cities, which will be European Capitals in the next three years, will have one landmark buiding each lit in the colours of the EU flag in a light and sound show marking the Day of Europe later this month.

The National Palace of Culture in Sofia (NDK), the Municipal Council building in Plovdiv and the Festival and Congress Centre in Varna will light up in the colours of the European Union flag at 9 p.m. on May 9 amid the sounds of the anthem of the EU.

The light and sound show will be a joint project of the representation office of the European Commission and the information office of the European Parliament in Bulgaria, according to a press release.

Varna has been named European Youth Capital 2017, Sofia - European Capital of Sport 2018, while Plovdiv has been selected to become European Capital of Culture 2019.
