Bulgarian Nationalist Ataka Leader Pleads Guilty to Three Charges
The leader of Bulgaria's nationalist Ataka party, Volen Siderov, has pleaded guilty to three charges against him.
Siderov pleaded guilty to the interruption of 2011 concert in the town of Batak, the 2013 attack of journalist and policeman in front of the parliament building and his incursion into the building of the National academy for theatre and film arts (NATFIZ) in 2015.
According to reports, he reached agreement to serve the sentences on probation, daily Dnevnik informs.
The Sofia City Courty (SGS) informs that it will hold a sitting on the probation agreements on Monday.
All three probation agreements require permanent address registration, periodical meetings with probation officer and community service, which will be in the form of deductions from his salary.
On 17 May 2011, Siderov disrupted a concert celebrating the 135th anniversary of the April Uprising after rushing on stage and plugging out the sound cables.
According to the prosecutor's office, his actions represented disruption to public order and disrespect for society.
On 21 May 2013, Siderov attacked a journalist and police officer in front of the building of parliament.
His actions, which included insulting and threatening the journalist and verbally and physically abusing the policeman, amounted to hooliganism.
His latest charge concerned his incursion into the building of NATFIZ on the night of the local elections on 25 October 2015, where he insulted students and accused them of using drugs.
Siderov's fellow party member, Desislav Chukolov, has also pleaded guilty to the charge concerning the incursion into NATFIZ.
Reports suggest that an agreement has also been reached for Chukolov to serve his sentence on probation with the same measures applicable to him.
At the end of last year, Siderov and Chukolov were involved in several incidents in the area of NATFIZ in which the two MPs entered into brawls with students, policemen and ordinary citizens.

Wow, great, I\'m glad the courts dealt with him in a hurry - not. These charges relate to only 3 incidents in 2011, 2013 and 2015. What about all his other psychotic outbursts? The times when he was brandishing his gun on the streets and in the Parliament building. What about when he physically attacked the French female journalist? And the list goes on and on. Slap on the wrist as usual. He\'s a menace to society and should be in a straight jacket. And oh the irony, that he\'d accused the students of being on drugs.
