Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban might arrive on a two-day visit to Bulgaria on January 27 and 28, Bulgarian media reported.

The information was announced by dnevnik.bg on Friday, with the media relying on its own sources.

According to big5.bg, Orban will arrive at the invitation of his Bulgarian counterpart Boyko Borisov and will be accompanied by Interior Minister Sandor Pinter.

Among the likely topics of discussion between Borisov and Orban are the state of the EU, the refugee wave and border control.

If the reports of Orban's visit are confirmed, it will come at a time when members of the Hungarian government have repeatedly expressed their support for Bulgaria's accession to the Schengen Area.

Earlier this month, Orban stated that Bulgaria should be admitted to the Schengen Area in order for the EU to be able to deal more effectively with the refugee crisis.

During his visit to Sofia on Thursday, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto reaffirmed his country's support for the accession of Bulgaria to the Schengen Area in view of the migrant influx.

Orban visited Bulgaria back in 2010 during the first term of Borisov as prime minister.
