Bulgaria: Bulgarians to Have Four Long Weekends in 2016

Employed Bulgarians will have four long weekends next year after the government reshuffled some workdays which come immediately before or after public holidays.

March and May will have one long weekend each, while September will have two.

The government said on Friday that it decided to make March 4 (Friday), May 23 (Monday), September 5 (Monday) and September 23 (Friday) non-workdays.

Instead, the following Saturdays will be workdays next year: March 12, May 14, September 10 and September 17.

In this way the total number of workdays in 2016 will remain unchanged, the government said following its weekly meeting.

March 3 (Liberation Day), May 24 (Literacy, Culture and Slavic Script Day), September 6 (Unification Day) and September 22 (Independence Day) are public holidays in Bulgaria.
