The Archaeological Museum in Bulgaria opened the biggest exposition of finds from the prehistoric period in South Eastern Europe. Latest discoveries have proved that Bulgaria's territory is the first home of human race on the Continent. The exposition in the country's capital Sofia displays finds that date back to 1 000 000 - 1100 B.C. and spans 99.7 percent of human history. "Bulgaria has given the civilisation to Europe," Director of the Archaeological Museum Margarita Deyanova-Vaklinova says. According to the specialists, the first human kind that came to Europe from Africa - homo erectus, settled on the country's territory. The first homo sapiens in Europe also occurred on the same land and the biggest settlements of human beings of our kind have been found, namely, in Bulgaria. The new exposition features exhibits from those remarkable sites, especially from the famous Karanovo Tell. The opening of the exposition coincides with the 110th anniversary of the Archeological Museum - the oldest museum in the country.
