The Turkish company Arkomat, which specialises in the production of wire harnesses for Volkswagen, will open a second production plant in Bulgaria in a month.

Arkomat opened its first factory in Bulgaria in the town of Kazanlak sixteen years ago and now plans to open a second one in the town of Karlovo.

Arkomat is one of the five producers of wire harnesses in Bulgaria together with Japanese Yazaki, which has factories in Sliven and Yambol, German-Japanese Bordnetze with two plants in Karnobat and Mezdra, Turkish Nursan Otomotiv based in the village of Lyulyakovo and French Nexans with a factory in Pleven.

These firms are the largest employers in the sector of automobile parts, providing work to nearly 10 000 people, Capital daily informs.

The advantage of these factories is that the plants are operating in regions with high unemployment rates and manage to provide work to thousands.

The total investments in the new production capacities of Arkomat amount to EUR 4 M with half of them to be spent on the building, the other half on equipment.

The plant in Karlovo will be located at the exit of the town in the direction of Burgas near the “Bulgarian rose” factory.

The plant is expected to be completed in a month and will employ between 600 and 700 people, the maximum number of workers to be reached until next spring.

The first 250 workers have already been employed and are undergoing training in Kazanlak.

Until the end of the year, the number of employees is expected to reach between 350 and 450 people.

In this way, the number of employees is expected to surpass 1700 next year, with 1000 people workers already hired in the first plant.

The workers in the second plant could exceed the planned figure of 700, but this will depend on the labour force in the region.

Like with all other companies, Arkomat is also experiencing difficulties in finding suitable labour force.

Arkomat was the first company specialing in the production of wire harness to open a plant in Bulgaria back in 1999.

The Bulgarian branch is a representative of the Turkish Arkomat which has a direct contract with Volkswagen.

In the past years, the revenues and financial results of the company have been constantly increasing.

In 2014, the company's revenues reached BGN 10.6 M and the company registered a profit of BGN 3 M.
