Updated Migrant Quota System Allocates 1500 Refugees to Bulgaria – Le Monde

Bulgaria will have to accept 1500 refugees this year according to an updated migrant quota system of the EU.
If the figures, which were published in an article of Le Monde on Monday, turn out to be true, then Bulgaria will have to accept more refugees than it was initially foreseen.
The initially foreseen quotas in May, which were not adopted in the end, allocated 788 migrants to Bulgaria, daily Dnevnik informs.
The new proposal is expected to be officially presented by European Commission (EC) President Jean-Claude Juncker at the European Parliament (EP) in Strasbourg on Wednesday.
Bulgaria will be allocated 1.3 % of the people granted refugee status in Europe and the country has to accept two refugees for every 10 000 people of its population.
Germany and France will have to accept the highest number of refugees, respectively 31 433 and 24 031 in order to alleviate the burden of the three most affected countries – Italy, Greece and Hungary.
During his biannual news conference at the Elysee Palace in Paris on Monday, French President Francois Hollande confirmed that his country will accept 24 000 refugees over the next two years.
The new quota system foresees the redistribution of 120 000 new refugees and the introduction of a compulsory principle for their acceptance.
The EU redistributed 40 000 refugees in July, but the member states promised to accept only 35 000 as back then a volunteer principle applied.
