The Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) will release a new BGN 2 coin to replace the BGN 2 banknotes by end-2015.

According to BNB data, BGN 2 banknotes are the ones that most often become unfit for circulation.

Bulgaria’s central bank, as cited by Sega daily, informs that a total of around 69 million unfit banknotes have been registered since the summer of 2014, including nearly 16 million BGN 2 banknotes.

The new coin will be bigger than the BGN 1 coin and will feature Saint Paisius of Hilendar or Pa?siy Hilend?rski, a Bulgarian clergyman and a key Bulgarian National Revival figure.

BGN 2 banknotes will be valid until fully replaced in circulation
