Bulgarian police have arrested two people on charges of producng fake identity documents in the city of Plovdiv, the Prosecutor’s Office of Bulgaria said on Friday.  

Ivan Bogoev, 49, and a woman only identified as Anna K., 28, were detained for 72 hours on Thursday.

Bogoev had been convicted to 13 years in jail for making counterfeit money. He was released on parole from Sofia prison in 2010 nearly four years early, the prosecutor’s office said in a press release.

Scanning and lazer printing equipment and related electronic devices were seized from a house and a car in Plovdiv. Police also seized blank identity cards and drivers’ licences, including licences to transport hazardous cargo, blank copies of Bulgarian and other EU passports as well as six identity cards and Bulgarian motor vehicle registration cards.

Charges of making counterfeit identity documents carry up to eight years imprisonment.
