The A to JazZ Fest will gather the audience across Sofia for the fifth time. The event will be held at the capital’s South Park 2, located behind the Spartak swimming stadium.
It will all start on July 3 and will continue for three consecutive days. The headline will be Roy Hargrove. The Gramy award winner will be performing in Bulgaria for the very first time alongside his band, Justin Robinson playing the keyboard, the pianist Sullivan Fortner, bass guitarist Ameen Saleem and drummer Quincy Phillips.
The new Bulgarian formation Dayo, featuring a fresh combination of hip hop beats and live instruments will entertain the audience beforehand. Additionally, Milena Daskalova and her musicians will perform with classic rock and pop hits.
The duo Sirius&Methodikal will be featured on July 4, playing a live mix of groovy, funk, hip hop, soul and jazz. Additionally, drummer Hristo Yotsov will be presenting his new project alongside the musicians of Jazzball and the pop soul performer Beloslava.
The show will be closed by one of the most prominent saxophone player Kenny Garrett. He got his very first Grammy award with one of his 18 albums – ‘’Five Peace Band Live’’ back in 2009. His music is a blend between funk and rhythm and blues elements.
July 5 will be the last day of the festival featuring the young band Funky Mircale and the vocalist Simo Zhelyazkov. Bobo&TheGang are widely known on the Bulgarian underground scene and will also be performing on the A to JazZ Festival.
The event will be officially closed by US musician Jose James who will be presenting his latest album entitled yesterday I Had the Blues: The Music of Billie Holiday, dedicated to the 100th anniversary from the birth of the legendary singer.
