More than a hundred people are feared dead after a military transport plane crashed in the Indonesian city of Medan on Tuesday.
The Hercules C-130 plane crashed into a residential area of the city, hitting two houses and a hotel before bursting into flames, the BBC reports.
Air Force Chief of Staff Agus Supriatna visited the site of the crash and said that there were no survivors among the 113 people on board.
Around fifty bodies have been taken to hospital, while a major rescue and recovery operation is under way.
The cause of the crash has not been identified yet and it is still too early to know the exact number of the victims.
The problems for the plane began shortly after take-off, with the pilot asking to return to the base because of technical difficulties.
The aircraft, which was manufactured in 1964 and is believed to have been in good condition, crashed as it was making a right turn to return to the airport.
This is the second airplane to crash in Medan in the past ten years, the previous time being in 2005, when a Boeing 737 came down shortly after take-off in a busy residential area causing the death of 143 people.
