Macedonia's central bank on Sunday demanded that all banks in the country withdraw their deposits held at Greek lenders, local media say.

"Preventive measures" are also in force to ensure capital flows into Greece will be restricted, in view of, a press statement from the central bank, quoted by Utrinski Vesnik, reads.

Authorities have made clear they are only taking the steps on a temporary basis.

This follows the European Central Bank (ECB)'s move to stop providing liquidity support for Greek lenders as Greece is refusing to accept a bailout proposal from international creditors ahead of the June 30 (Tuesday) deadline for a loan payment.

Skopje's goal is to curb capital flight of Macedonian residents to Greece-based natural and legal persons, the central bank explains.
