US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter has said Bulgaria has already agreed to have heavy armament including tanks, artillery and other equipment stationed on its territory.

In his words, the Pentagon is determined to go on with plans to reassert, through deployment of heavy weapons, support for Eastern European member states against what NATO calls potential "aggression" coming from Russia.

Prior to visiting Estonia on Tuesday, he said all six former Soviet states in Eastern Europe that were previously mentioned in NATO plans to deploy arms.

The US units to be sent to Eastern Europe include 250 tanks and other weapons.

Just a week ago White House officials had asserted that plans to deploy them are at an early stage.
